Britt-Michele Authentic is a woman owned beekeeping business on the northern California coast in the small historic victorian village of Ferndale.
Britt-Michele Authentic offers a modern twist to old-school traditional equipment with the introduction of the BEE SMART line of products. These products have been tried and tested in our own apiaries. Woodenware is provided by our neighbors in Oregon at Shastina Mill Works. We sell assembled equipment at no extra charge. We also provide custom local milling of hive boxes in Cedar or Old Growth Redwood upon request. Baker Creek Rare Heirloom Seeds are offered, as well as other California native bee friendly plants. Every spring we offer competitive rates for pollination services. This year we are offering local 3lb package bees with locally grafted queens exclusively from Barbata Honey Farm. Humboldt Queens are typically not ready until May, weather permitting. April Queens will be sourced from the Central Valley. We will not subject queens/bee packages to mailing. We provide pick up and transport privately to insure the healthiest stock upon arrival/sale. Full custom extraction for our fellow beekeepers in our American made Maxant equipment is available each fall. We are licensed by the Health Department to process your frames in our facility.
Britt-Michele earned her Bachelor's Degree from California State University Sacramento, and is currently enrolled in the University California Davis Master Beekeeping Program. Initially inspired by Michael Bush she decided to become a Beekeeper. Britt has been keeping bees on the riverbank at their family cabin and also in town. Current community services include serving on the Humboldt County Beekeepers Association and sharing her love of bees through outreach programs at local schools.
